James HARTLEY and his wife Elizabeth SCHMIERER settled in Euroa, Victoria about 1864. He was a former miner and convict from Leeds; she was newly arrived from Wurttemberg in Germany and had a brother Fred who had preceded his sisters (1961) and settled in Queensland, and her sister Christina in NSW. As far as we know the three siblings never met again. They may have corresponded but may have also moved around a bit before settling, Elizabeth in Euroa and Christina in Gunnedah.
